  50. Thank you for your interest in The Datacom Journal.  It is encouraging to see so many who are as interested in computing excellence as we are.

  52.     In this, our first issue, we are going to open a forum for an exchange of ideas, tips, and answers to your questions.  We encourage all of you to use this as a source of information, release of frustration, or any way you see fit.

  54.     You can send E-mail on any problems you have overcome and we will share your triumphs with your colleagues, or if you have not solved them, we will attempt to answer them for you.  Any material you wish kept confidential will not be published.

This is a free first issue to give you a glimpse of things to come. The size of this issue is slightly smaller than what  we would like to keep the download time at a minimum to encourage new readership. We will be offering the journal via E-mail, on 3.5 inch disk, or hardcopy 3 hole punched and ready for binder.

Those of you who were lucky enough to get a copy of Double Helix MultiMedia may wonder as we do why NorthCon did not include the "Play Media" command in its current sequences.  For those of you who never had Double Helix MultiMedia, it was a Version of 3.5r9 that could accept a Quicktime movie and play it without starting any other application.  It would appear that the code is written and could be easily incorporated into the newest version of Helix┬« Express.  An instant use for this could be online help.  Imagine a help file that has video or sound or both?. This can now be accomplished by using Apple's simple player, but it would be much more elegant if Helix could play them itself.  As Apple continues to tout CD ROM and Multimedia as the future, you would think this is a bandwagon Northcon would jump on.  Any comments sent to us on this topic will be forwarded to Northcon.
